ACEPilot Aeromodelling Club Advances

Over the past year, several aircraft were developed to improve construction techniques and piloting skills. New processes including machining, lamination, and 3D printing were implemented, made possible through partnerships with FabLab, Tekever, and Filkemp. Some flight sessions were also supported by APSIA. This year, the F5J competition presents a new challenge, focusing on glider endurance, tactics, and precision. With the main goal of completing the "Cegonha" glider, the team is now focused on its construction, testing, and optimization. Pilot training continues on the "Gaivota" motor glider, a docile and easily repairable model replicated in multiple configurations. Due to project growth, promotion is essential and managed through a dedicated Instagram profile launched in August 2025. Additionally, the CIA (Introduction to Aeromodelling Course) has been integrated into the program as workshops in collaboration with FabLab, bringing engineering closer to younger students. Beyond competition, training, and knowledge sharing, there is space for innovative projects, such as the "Manta" flying wing inspired by a Madeiran bird of prey, primarily using 3D printing. Looking ahead, the team anticipates the culmination of the F5J competition and continued ACEPilot development, potentially expanding horizons and embracing new challenges.
