BLUE Accelerates Jet Engine Development
BLUE, the newest project of AeroTéc, now three and a half years old, aims to design and manufacture progressively better and more innovative jet engines. Progress has been driven by the teams in Design, Manufacturing, Data & Electronics, and Marketing & Business.
Currently, the project has 18 members and two coordinators. Early engines were built with ingenuity under limited sponsorship, materials, and budget using items like weights, a cone for shaping the combustion chamber, and even a Jean Paul Gaultier perfume can as a casing. Despite these constraints, the first functional engine was produced.
In 2025/26, BLUE aims to finalize two engines, compete in TEKNOFEST in Turkey, construct a modular convergent-divergent nozzle, and secure partnerships and sponsorships. Progress is being steadily achieved.
The Design team is developing a third engine called "Toy," intended to fly on a model aircraft and run on sustainable aviation fuel (limonene). The Manufacturing team is preparing BLUE2 (the second engine) with improved thrust, material strength using stainless steel, and lower emissions. The Data & Electronics team collects pressures, velocities, emissions, and controls fuel and starter systems.
BLUE has secured its first partnership with CADFLOW, with more expected. The project has matured, achieving steady progress and aiming to deliver top-tier jet engines in the academic sector.
